On an acoustic sensor, a contact heading toward you gives itself away. Its tone is shifted upward. Operators call that shift up Doppler, and the speed producing it is the closing rate. Catch it early and there is time to respond. Catch it late and there is not. Closing Rate takes its name from that idea.

The problem it addresses

Change in the DOW market behaves like an approaching contact. A directive gets signed. An organization is redrawn. A command alters the way it buys. Each of these is already on a course toward the companies it will affect, yet most of those companies first notice it when a solicitation is posted, which is late in the approach.

Across 45 years inside defense operations and acquisition, UDC's founder has watched one pattern repeat more than any other: a capable company caught off guard by a development that had been visible for months to anyone who knew where to listen. The publication exists to narrow that interval.

What Closing Rate publishes

The publishing rule

Closing Rate publishes when a development deserves a reader's time and stays silent when nothing does. There is no schedule to fill.

If you want to hear the next change while there is still time to act on it, subscribe to Closing Rate. Signal posts are free, and paid subscribers receive every paper in full.
